My Story…
The doctor who manages my migraine care is the best in the region. She has asked her husband not to tell people what she does for a living. Her waiting list is just too long already. I learned this when we advocated together as part of Headache on the Hill. That was when I learned that there are only 500 Headache Specialists in the country. There are 40 million people with migraine, 10% of whom experience migraine more than 15 days a month. So that is one doctor for 8,000 to 80,000 patients.
This is why supporting this race is so important to me. I have been lucky enough to be cared for by two Georgetown Fellows. When they say- hey, we are training someone new to put 30 shots in your head, will you be her 1st? - I say, ok, do me so we can all have more people who know how to administer the treatment I need, but, for which appointments are difficult to get.
Help us train more neurologists to specialize in this needed work.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this migraine journey. I'm so grateful to have so many amazing people in my life.
