Triathlon Winter Workshop - February 16, 2020
What better time than the winter to best hone in on your triathlon skills for the upcoming season? We’ve put together a Professional Triathlete Coach (Jennifer Harrison) , Physical Therapist/Running Technique Coach (Denise Smith) and Bob Olsen Wheel Werks owner and bike fit technician to create an afternoon to focus on running and swimming.
Race Production by Trudy is a management group that brings you the Fox Lake Triathlon, Run & Role at the Dole, and the Ride N' Tie - and new in 2020 The Smith PT Crystal Lake Half Marathon, and the McHenry County Century Ride .

Our Workshop Coaches
Jennifer Harrison (JHC) has been coaching athletes for 20 years. Jennifer coaches a wide variety of athletes from pure runners to Ironman athletes. She works with all levels of athletes from beginners to professional athletes. She is an accomplished triathlete winning area sprint races to participating in the Hawaii Ironman. Her love for swimming brings her knowledge to the pool for this workshop. Each athlete will be given attention to freestyle stroke and work with the group on a basic swim practice skills. Developing body awareness and pushing/pulling through the water in the most efficient and effective way will be discovered during the water sequence.
Denise Smith is the owner and operator of Smith Physical Therapy and Running Academy in Crystal Lake & St. Charles. Her continuous education in physical therapy and running techniques has made her the expert in this area. Specifically, she has mastered the art form of creating better runners through form analysis and developing new habits to help runners prevent injuries, improve their performance and efficiency.
Bob Olsen is the owner and operator of Wheel Werks Bikes in Crystal Lake. He is considered the "Fit Guru" of our area and has done thousands of fits and is sought after by cyclists nationwide. This workshop he will have a fit kit bike and will go through the process of fitting a person, how the angles of the seat, handle bars, feet placement and more combined to make a more efficient cyclists.
The day will begin at 12 p.m. with check in and orientation at the Sage YMCA (701 Manor Drive, Crystal Lake). One third of the group will go to the pool, a third to the gym for running skills and drills, and a third to the classroom for a bike analysis. Then we'll switch after an hour times two so each person will have been involved in each aspect of the swim, bike, and run presentation. The group will wrap up with a Q & A and raffle prize giveaways! We'll have you out the door no later than 4:30 p.m.
Items to bring: swim suit, goggle, towel, running shoes, running apparel, water bottle. Cell phone/video camera for ‘potential’ videotaping.
We'll provide: drinks, snacks, feedback, and some laughter!
