The Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation is dedicated to funding the ongoing research needed to find treatments and a cure for Tay-Sachs disease. Our 2019 Take A Hike Tay-Sachs Virtual 5k raised approximately $17,000 towards finding a cure and we hope you'll help us raise even more this year!
Registration details: Registration runs March 1, 2020 - MAY 31, 2020. For $25 it includes a 2020 knit hat, a 2020 sticker, and the knowledge that you’re helping us get one step closer to a cure!
New This Year! Check out our awesome race "store" (see right side bar), where for an additional donation (the "price"), we'll thank you with your selected swag. By this additional support of the fundraiser you are spreading even more awareness each time you wear or use your thank you swag! We have t-shirts and tanks, patches, finisher medals, magnets, and stickers!
About Tay-Sachs: Tay-Sachs disease is a rare neuro-degenerative disorder in which deficiency of an enzyme (HexA) results in excessive accumulation of certain fats in the brain and nerve cells. This leads to progressive dysfunction of the central nervous system. A baby with classical Infantile Tay-Sachs appears normal at birth and typically continues to develop normally for the first six months of life but then development slows. As the disease progresses, affected children will have gradual loss of vision and hearing, increasing muscle stiffness/restricted movements and seizures, eventual paralysis, and deterioration of cognitive processes. It is fatal during early childhood. YOU can help find a cure.
